October 04, 2018

South Bend, IN-Ryan Kring has been named new the Chairman for The South Bend Alumni Association.  His two year term begins in October and  replaces Jessica Brookshire, University of Notre Dame, who finished her term in September.  Ryan is employed by Ancon Construction were he serves as the Vice President of Business Development.
A South Bend Native and Class of 1998 Washington High School Graduate Ryan values the South Bend Community School Corporation.  “I am excited to be able to give back to a community that gave me so much growing up.  The South Bend Alumni Association is a vital piece that allows our students to learn how to work in teams while instilling the importance of giving back” Kring stated.  Once a grant is awarded to a student group they must perform an equal amount of community service activity to help “Pay it forward”.
The mission statement of The South Bend Alumni Association is to aspire to support education in our schools by funding extra- and co-curricular activities that are not tax funded and by instilling an awareness of the need for student service in the community.  The SBAA has given over $250,000 in Grants for athletics, theatre, choir, band and after school programs such as robotics and mock trial.
The South Bend Hall of Fame banquet is put on by the SBAA and this year marks the first year for The Big Give.  The Big Give is a day of giving which will be held on Thursday October 11, 2018 with a celebration event happening at TCU School Field.  There will be games, face painting, school parades, concession stands open and everyone will have a chance to test out the new field turf that was recently installed.
