Feb 10 - Feb 24 BENEFIT HAYSTACK SUPPER
Local Volunteers/ Committee working thru /with COTA (Childrens Organ Transplant Association) to help raise funds for a local 24 yr old young lady Brittany Niswonger who had a DOUBLE LUNG TRANSPLANT on March 26, 2017 while in IU Methodist Hospital in Indy and spent 2 Months to the day until she was ready to come home on May 26, 2017. Since then she has been doing pretty good while going to the hospital for follow-up appointments every week , then every two weeks and then for longer intervals in between. Just a couple of weeks ago she was admitted into IU Methodist again with a major road block that is causing concern all around. All the while doctors are trying to figure out what is going on in her body. We as a committee have been working for about a year now on fund raising events thru COTA. It is an organization that helps the family and other families during their trying times, to get some help, by raising funds to help pay the medical expenses for the transplant and other medical related expenses. So now, more than ever since her re -admittance into the hospital we are asking the community to help us in our efforts to raise funds for this young girl and her family. We ask for lots of prayers and for your help by supporting our fund raising events. We also would like to thank everyone who has helped to support our past events and GOD bless.

Feb 27 - Mar 8 Lifelong Learning Institute class: Reading Genesis Well
Led by Paul Keim, this course will explore the book of Genesis using four different interpretive lenses. First, we will read Genesis within the context of other ancient origin stories. Second, we will take a literary approach, piecing together the puzzle of its careful composition and tracing its echoes. Third, we will plunge into the fascinating world of Midrash, the rabbinic interpretive tradition that interweaves elements of law, customary wisdom and exhortation. Finally, we will consider non-linear interpretations of Genesis themes, as reflected in art, music and poetry. The richly-textured and open-ended portrait that emerges is intended to enflame our theological imagination and illuminate our path. Paul Keim is Professor of Bible, Religion and Philosophy at Goshen College and Adjunct Lecturer in Biblical Languages at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary.
